Theme
The STKH Sopron és Térsége Kft. invites all professional and amateur cartoonists, satirical artists and graphic designers to an international illustration contest with the theme
flatten your trash before putting it in the bin
• because this way others garbage will fit inside as well
• and the garbage truck has to make fewer trips
• which is a more efficient use of resources
The entry can be either a poster, advertisement, logo or icon.

General rules
Entries can be sent via post or e-mail to the organiser of the contest.
Size of entries received by post should be A/3.
Cartoons sent by emails should be in JPG format (300 dpi), sized at about 2500 pixels wide if in portrait format and 3500 pixels wide if in landscape format.
Competition details
• All participants must be 14 or older.
• Previously published cartoons are not allowed for submission.
• Each competitor is allowed to participate in the competition with a maximum of 3 cartoons.

Entries received by post will not be returned.

• Cartoons sent by email should contain the surname of the participant and a two digit serial number. A txt, doc or docx format text is required with the same two digit serial number, which includes the data of the participant and the cartoon. (listed below)
• Attachment of works received either by post or by email should include:
o Title of the work

o Address
o Phone number
o Email address of the applicant.
Rating
Works will be judged by a professional jury. Unique vision, expressiveness and eye catching aesthetic are the highest priorities when deciding the winners.
The jury will automatically disqualify any submission deemed offensive or inappropriate or any submission that violates copyright law or the rules of the competition.
A notification of the result of the competition will be sent to the provided email address by 20. November 2015.
Exhibition
The best submissions to the competition will be displayed on STKH’s website in the „www.stkh.hu/Főbb információk/pályázatok/Reduce it!” section from 23. November 2015. The best submissions will be exclusively exhibited as a part of the European Week for Waste Reduction programme. The exhibition can be viewed at the Liszt Ferenc Conference an Cultural Center in Sopron from 23. November 2015.

The 9th INT’L CARTOON CONTEST URZICENI 2015

RULES:

1- The 9th ICC Urziceni is an open competition for cartoonists all over the world. The participation is free of charge.

2- The artworks must be presented in a FREE THEME or/and on THE THEME - MIGRATION .

3- Deadline: 15 November 2015.

4- You can submit max 5 works for FREE THEME and max 5 works for THEME SECTION. The cartoons must not contain text. The name of the cartoons must contain the entrant’s family name, country and title of work (in english). The works must be digitized in 300 DPI resolution, RGB color mode, in JPG format, with the maximum limit of 2 MB.

6-The cartoons submitted to the contest will be exhibited on the Urziceni 2015 web site for the attention and objection of all cartoonists to prevent similarity, copying and steeling. Any cartoon which is similar, copied or stolen will not be awarded. The contest results will be announced on the Urziceni 2015 web site .

7-The International Jury will award the following prizes for the best works, no mater the categories:

8- By participating, entrants grant the organizing body the right to use their entries as advertising for the Urziceni International Cartoon Contest and for the site BestCARTOONS.net (e.g. as cartoon books, catalogues, advertising in the press, internet and other media, separate promotional printed works such as posters, leaflets, etc., promotional gifts by the city council and/or cartoon contest organization, calendars, etc) without any special fees paid to the authors.

9. COPYRIGHTBy participating the cartoonists confer the right on the organizers to publish the selected works until

½ year after the exhibition, for no other purpose than the promotion of the cartoonist, The Roosevelt Foundation and

the Dutch Cartoon Festival. The copyright of the works remain always to the cartoonists.

10. INSURANCEThe works received will be insured by the organizers, equal to the value indicated by the cartoonist

on the entry-form. If the value of the cartoon is not indicated, the works will be insured for € 50 Euro each1.

11. The Jury

12 Copyrights
1) The organizers reserve the right to refuse entries they consider morally, politically or religiously offensive, as well as work that is considered in violation of the acknowledged moral standards.
2) If a contribution has any intellectual property rights or copyright dispute, the organizer holds the right to revoke the participant’s eligibility to participate in the competition. Participants are solely liable for any consequence that may arise from submitting work to the competition. The participant must be the owner of all rights on the work submitted and it is the responsibility of the participant to ensure that his or her contributions to the competition do not generate any copyright or other intellectual property rights dispute.
3) News Cartoon reserves the right to use the contributions for presentation and media use.
4) Organizers and participants share the copyrights of the contributions; the organizers of the event have the right to display and distribute the works of the contestants.

Terms of Participation
DATE OF FINAL APPLICATION: FRIDAY, JANUARY 29TH, 2016
1. THE COMPETITION IS OPEN TO ALL CARTOONISTS OF
THE WORLD.
2. BOARD MEMBERS OF KIMSE YOK MU ASSOCIATION,
MEMBERS OF THE SELECTION COMMITTEE AND THEIR
IMMEDIATE RELATIVES CAN NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE
COMPETITION.
3. IN THE CARICATURES SUBMITTED TO THE COMPETITION,
THERE SHALL BE NO DISCRIMINATION OF RELIGION,
LANGUAGE, OR RACE, AND THE CARICATURES SHALL BE
IN CONFORMITY WITH PUBLIC DECENCY.
4. ANY TECHNIQUES CAN BE USED TO DRAW THE CARICATURES.
THEY CAN BE BLACK AND WHITE OR COLORED.
5. THERE SHALL BE NO REMARKS IN CARICATURES.IF AN
EXPLANATORY REMARK IS TO BE USED IN SHALL BE
DEFINITELY IN ENGLISH.
6. EACH PARTICIPANT CAN SUBMIT UP TO THREE (3) WORKS.
7. THE FORMAT OF THE CARICATURES SHALL BE JPG OR
JPEG, WITH 300 DPI RESOLUTION.
8. THE COMPETITION PARTICIPANTS SHALL MAKE THEIR
APPLICATIONS ON THE COMPETITION'S FORMAL WEBSITE:

9. PARTICIPANTS WILL ENTER INTO THE COMPETITION BY
UPLOADING THEIR CARICATURES TO

10. THE PROPOSALS SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ISSUED BEFORE
IN DIGITAL OR PRINTED AND IT SHOULD NOT HAVE GAIN
AWARD IN A COMPETITION BEFORE..
11. FOLLOWING THE COMPETITION, IN CASE A CARICATURE IS
DEEMED AS NOT CONFORMING TO THE SPECIFICATIONS, ITS
ORDER AND AWARD ARE REVOKED.SUCH A COMPETITOR
IS DEEMED AS HAVING VIOLATING THE RULES.SELECTION
OF A NEW CARICATURE INSTEAD OF THE REVOKED ONE
IS AT THE DISPOSAL OF THE SELECTION COMMITTEE.
12. A PARTICIPANT CAN NOT RECEIVE MORE THAN ONE Award
TRANSFER PLUS FINANCIAL RIGHTS OF TRANSFER OF
SUCH TO PUBLIC DEFINED IN ARTICLES 21 - 25 OF
LAW NO.5846 ON INTELLECTUAL AND ARTISTIC WORKS
INCLUDING TRANSFER OF SUCH TO THIRD PERSONS
WITHOUT ANY LIMITATIONS REGARDING LOCATION,
DURATION AND AMOUNT, EXCLUSIVELY TO KIMSE YOK
MU ASSOCIATION, HE / SHE GIVES CONSENT THAT KIMSE
YOK MU ASSOCIATION MAY USE THE SAID CARICATURE
IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED
TO EXHIBITING, ARCHIVING OR PUBLISHING OF SUCH ON
INTERNET AND OTHER MEDIUMS, HE / SHE DOES NOT
HAVE ANY OWNERSHIP REGARDING THE FINANCIAL RIGHTS13. THE RESULTS OF THE COMPETITION WILL BE ANNOUNCED
TO THE CARICATURISTS WHO ARE GRANTED AWARDS AND
TO THE MEDIA.IN ADDITION, THEY WILL BE ANNOUNCED

14. KIMSE YOK MU ASSOCIATION WILL PAY THE NECESSARY
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION EXPENSES OF THE
CARICATURISTS, GRANTED WITH THE FIRST THREE (3)
AWARDS IN THIS COMPETITION (WITHIN THE SCOPE OF
THIS SPECIFICATION), FOR THEIR PARTICIPATION IN THE
AWARD CEREMONY.
15. THE CARICATURES SENT TO THE COMPETITION MAY
BE PUBLISHED AND REPRODUCED BY KIMSE YOK MU
ASSOCIATION ON CARDS, POSTERS, BANNERS, ALBUMS,
NEWSPAPERS, MAGAZINES, BOOKS, CDS, AND SUCH, AND
EXHIBITED.NO COPYRIGHT SHALL BE PAID FOR THESE
PROCEDURES.HOWEVER, THE OWNER MAY BE NOTIFIED
ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENTS.
16. CARICATURES MUST BE UPLOADED TO WWW.KYMCARTOON.COM
BY FRIDAY, JANUARY, 29TH, 2016 UNTIL 23:59
TURKISH LOCAL TIME.
17. A DIGITAL PARTICIPATION CERTIFICATE WILL BE SENT TO
ALL PARTICIPANTS OF THE COMPETITION VIA EMAIL.
18. ALONGSIDE THE WORKS TO BE GRANTED AWARDS, THE
SELECTION COMMITTEE WILL ALSO CHOOSE CARICATURES
TO BE USED IN EXHIBITIONS AND ON ALBUMS.
19. THE SPECIFICATION OF THE COMPETITION CAN BE
DOWNLOADED FROM WWW.KYMCARTOON.COM.
20. THE PARTICIPANT ACCEPTS AND DECLARES IN
ADVANCE THAT HE / SHE HAS THE POSSESSION OF THE
CARICATURE (S) WITH WHICH HE / SHE PARTICIPATES IN
THE COMPETITION BY FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION
FORM AND TRANSFERS THE USAGE RIGHTS OF TOOLS
FOR PROCESSING, REPRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION,
REPRESENTATION AND INDICATION, AUDIO AND / OR VISUAL
WHICH CONSIST OF THE SUBJECT MATTER OF TRANSFER
AND THEREFORE HE / SHE CAN NOT TAKE ACTION AGAINST
3RD PERSONS REGARDING THE TRANSFERRED FINANCIAL

1.GENERAL

• All persons older than 16 years can participate. Deadline for submission is December 15, 2015.
• A cartoon may consist of one image, or take the form of a short strip. There are no moving images allowed.
• Maximum three entries per person, cartoons in black and white or color.
• All graphic techniques are allowed; Format: 21 cm x 29.7 cm (DinA4)
• The works submitted may have been published or exhibited before. The contributor remains responsible for the originality of his work. Discussions and possible claims concerning all forms of plagiarism etc. are the responsibility of the contributor.

2. HOW TO SUBMIT?

• Go to the subscription form on the website.Click here for the form.
• Either you can immediately attach your cartoon to the website: The cartoons can have a maximum size of an A4 format (21 x 30 cm), at a resolution of 300 dpi, in JPEG format.
• Submissions by post to: MUNTPUNT CARTOON, attn. Jan Van der Auwermeulen, Munt 6, 1000 Brussels (Belgium). On the version side of each cartoon has to be mentioned: Title + full name and address (but: first the subscription form on the website must be completed: here)
• Submitted cartoons will not be returned

3.AUTHORIZATION TO PUBLISH

With her / his participation the artist agrees that the submitted cartoons are used for the exhibition and may be published on the website and possibly be included in a publication on the occasion of the exhibition.

4.SELECTION

A programmation committee composed of renowned cartoonists and Middle-East experts will ultimately make a selection in order to create and structure a fascinating exhibition.

Submitted cartoons that cannot be included in the exhibition, will be shown digitally.

5.EXHIBITION

The selected cartoons will be exhibited during the month of February 2016 in Muntpunt, Brussels.

The exhibition in Brussels will be accompanied by discussions between cartoonists, documentaries, lectures, workshops, and other relevant activities.

We also expect that after February 2016, this will be a traveling exhibition in other cities in Europe and hopefully also in the Middle East.
